SURGICAL LOCATION
Typically, your surgery will take place at Arizona Spine and Joint Hospital. It is a wonderful place with an entire staff
and team that is not only friendly, but extremely well trained in helping you with your joint replacement. You will meet
your nursing staff as well as anesthesiologist on the day of surgery. You may receive a regional nerve block injection
before surgery to help with pain afterwards. You are put completely asleep and most surgeries are done with spinal
anesthesia which has been shown to be the safest as you to breathe on your own during the procedure. You will wake
up in the recovery area, and our staff will give you something to eat and drink, help you to the bathroom, and get you
up walking with a walker. You will also be evaluated and cared for by a hospitalist physician during your stay.

MEDICATION PRESCRIPTIONS
To make things as easy as possible for you, Dr. Eccles will send your (non-narcotic) prescriptions to a local pharmacy in
Gilbert called Stoneview Pharmacy. These typically will be prescribed electronically on the day of your preoperative
appointment and will be mailed overnight to your house so that you have them. The reason for not going through your
regular pharmacy is because some won’t have certain medications in stock (and even may refuse to order them!) that
you will need. We want you to get the correct medications and in time. Stoneview Pharmacy also helps with a certain
pain medication called Journavx to get the best discount for you as possible. They will take your insurance and reach out
to you if any additional information is needed.
If you have any questions, you can contact them directly:
• 459 N. Gilbert Rd., Suite A-148 Gilbert, AZ 85234
• Phone 480-867-6795
• Mon-Fri: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Your narcotic pain medication for oxycodone will be sent to your regular home pharmacy
and you can pick that up at your convenience.
Don’t take any medications you receive before your surgical day but bring your
Journavx medication to the hospital as you will take one before surgery.
